Bwlch Y Gueffordd Gardens

I visited Bwlch Y Gueffordd Gardens with my partner and son (then 11 years old), after reading some reviews of it on TripAdvisor. As I’ve lived in the area for over 30 years I was surprised to find somewhere we hadn’t been before. All three of us love gardens and gardening and this garden looked interesting as well as lovely. We really enjoyed going, and would be likely to take visitors if the occasion arises.

There’s a stunning use of water and water features. There are lakes, ponds and streams, bridges and water plants. Water lilies and yellow flag irises were in flower when we were there.

Many gorgeous and scented flowers were out, and there were some great structural plants. This is not just an ordinary garden though! It is cleverly designed to feel much bigger than it’s three acres, and we discovered something new and unexpected at each turn. The owners must have put a lot of thought in, not to mention time and effort!

Sculptures, ornaments, seats, dens, little houses and a little cave are artfully sited among the plants. The use of materials is very imaginative. The wood carvings and metal sculptures done by the owner are truly beautiful and amazing. Most surprising were the places to stop and discover, and try out, musical instruments of various kinds – much to the delight of my partner and son.

We’re very likely to go to Bwlch Y Gueffordd Gardens again, perhaps taking friends and relatives. We’d probably also take a picnic. We took the photos illustrating this page.
